Course Description

After completing this lesson, the student shall be able to recognize different types of forcible entry tools and describe methods for forcing entry through doors, windows, and walls.

Course Completion Requirements

Participant Must Provide

A photo identification on the first day of class.  See the Participant Handbook opens in a new tab for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines. 

PPE must be NFPA-approved.  See the Student Safety Manual to review PPE requirements for level 4. 

Attendance Requirements

Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed

Essentials of Fire Fighting, Seventh Edition recommended.

  • Describe forcible entry tools.
  • Explain considerations for forcible entry tool safety.
  • Explain how to carry forcible entry tools.
  • Describe how to clean and maintain forcible entry tools.
  • Describe methods of forcing entry through doors.
  • Describe methods for forcing entry through windows.
  • Describe methods for breaching walls.
