Course Description

This course is designed to help officers stay up to date on de-escalation tactics used in resolving conflicts in the field. Participants refresh on following topics: de-escalation law, characteristics of individuals in crisis, methods to slow/defuse a situation, less lethal weapons on their effectiveness, communication principles, and crisis intervention teams.

This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements De-Escalation Refresher Course #78045.

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Completion Requirements

  • The mandatory completion/duration period for the eCourse is 45 days from the registration date.
  • To complete this course you are required to have a computer with internet access.
