Course Description

NFA logoThis two-day program provides students with an understanding of the Incident Command System (ICS) and Resource Management for the Fire Service and their application in both emergency and non emergency situations. This course addresses the need for an ICS, an overview of the structure and flexibility of ICS, and an understanding of the command skills necessary to function effectively in an ICS structure and the need to effectively manage your resources. This course meets the requirements of ICS 100 and ICS 200.


There are no prerequisites for this course.

Attendance Requirements

To meet NFA attendance requirements, participants must complete each training module and complete all required course assignments, activities, quizzes, and/or end of course exam. Exceptions may be discussed with lead instructor.


  • Incident Command System and Command Staff Functions and Applications.
  • Incident Command System General Staff Functions and Responsibilities.
  • Developing an Organizational Structure.
  • Incident Command System Implementation.

Suggested Audience

Target audience is all first responders with responsibilities to use, deploy, implement, and/or function within an ICS and Resource Management.

Continuing Education And Professional Credits

Note: Live Online Instructor-Led (webinar) courses are not eligible for TCOLE credit.
