SUMMARY:TEEX Water School - Bryan\, Texas
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that every three years\, your professional license expires? The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires that water utility professionals have 30 hours of training in order to renew it. Fortunately\, at TEEX’s Water School\, you can knock out 20 of the required 30 hours! Then\, for the remaining 10 hours\, you can opt for one of TEEX’s online awareness courses to round out your training. \nAlthough this school carries with it the allure of licensing\, do not be fooled – it isn’t only for licensed professionals. The courses do not have any prerequisites\, so any individual looking to expand their knowledge and become a more highly skilled professional should consider these courses. The Water School is for all water utility and environmental professionals as well as managers\, supervisors\, coordinators\, and field technicians. Our extensive audience even includes (but is not limited to) small business owners\, private well owners\, and fire industry professionals. \n\n\nEvent Schedule\n\n\n\nGroundwater Production (WWW002-255)\n$300.00 | 20 Hrs.\n Register\n\n\nValve and Hydrant Maintenance (WWW208-295)\n$300.00 | 20 Hrs.\n Register\n\n\nBasic Wastewater Operations (WWW101 – 479)\n$300.00 | 20 Hrs.\n Register\n\n\nBasic Water Works Operations (WWW001 – 513)\n$300.00 | 20 Hrs.\n Register\n\n\nPump And Motor Maintenance (WWW203-346)\n$300.00 | 20 Hrs.\n Register\n\n\nWastewater Treatment (WWW102-304)\n$300.00 | 20 Hrs.\n Register\n\n\nWater Distribution (WWW003-448)\n$300.00 | 20 hours\n Register\n\n\n\nResources\nWater Industry Professional Recognition Program

SUMMARY:Amputation Stand-Down
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the Amputation Stand-Down is to raise awareness of amputation hazards. For the past several years\, machine guarding has remained one of the most frequently cited violations by OSHA. Since the implementation of the OSHA Recordkeeping Rule modifications on January 1\, 2015\, requiring employers to report to OSHA within 24 hours of any amputations in the workplace\, many OSHA offices have received numerous reports of amputations. \nArkansas was the first state in the nation to sponsor an Amputation Prevention Stand-Down and anticipates reaching more than 10\,000 workers in over 20 individual organizational Stand-Downs. We have seen great success in the past Amputation Stand-Downs with a large number of companies participating. The 2015 and 2016 Arkansas Amputation Prevention stand-downs drew more than 25\,000 participants in 16 different states and 2 foreign countries. \nWe invite everyone to participate in the goal of improving worker protection and reducing amputations\, which are viewed as preventable debilitating injuries and life-altering events. Companies may conduct an Amputation Stand-Down by stopping work and providing focused toolbox talks on topics such as machine guarding or lock-out/tag-out. Provide information to workers about hazards\, protective methods such as machine safeguarding\, pullback devices\, restraints\, two-hand controls\, and the company’s safety policies\, goals\, and expectations. Extensive information and resources are provided on this website for your use. \nDuring the 2019 Stand-Down\, employers will be able to conduct site activities such as employee training\, audits of machinery where the potential for amputations exist\, corrections of any identified machine guarding hazards\, and a review of their lock-out/tag-out procedures. Companies will be recognized with a Certificate for their participation in the Amputation Stand-Down. \n Register \n

SUMMARY:OSHA National Safety Stand-Down
DESCRIPTION:TEEX Region VI OTI Education Center Supports the National Safety Stand-Down\nAs a part of the US Department of Labor Occupational Safety & Health Administration’s campaign\, TEEX Region VI OTI Education Center has planned several no-cost Fall Hazard Awareness (OSH #7405) delivery opportunities (Mesquite\, and San Antonio\, TX). \nThe National Fall Prevention Stand-Down raises awareness of preventing fall hazards in construction. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees\, accounting for 350 of 937 construction fatalities recorded in 2015 (BLS data). Those deaths were preventable. The National Fall Prevention Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries. \nShare your story #StandDown4Safety
