Police Academy graduate Justin Leeth named Navasota Police Chief

COLLEGE STATION — Police Lt. Justin Leeth, a 2004 graduate of the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) Central Texas Police Academy, was sworn in on Oct. 1 as the Chief of Police of the Navasota Police Department.

Leeth, who joined the Navasota Police Department after graduating from the Academy, has risen through the ranks, most recently achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He was named Officer of the Year in 2009 by the Grimes County Crime Stoppers.

A graduate from the University of North Texas and veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Leeth served as a Military Police Officer from 2000-2003. At the ceremony, his badge was pinned on by his father, Lt. Greg Leeth of the College Station Police Department.

“I have known Justin for years and been a longtime family friend,” said TEEX Training Manager Kyle McNew, who attended the swearing-in ceremony. “I watched Justin start his law enforcement career here at the police academy and have continued to watch his rise in law enforcement. I am not the least bit surprised at all by what he has been able to accomplish and his many achievements.”

Also attending the ceremony were TEEX Law Enforcement Division Director Elizabeth Morris and Training Director Cullen Grissom.
