It is the participant’s responsibility to make their accommodation needs known and to provide the appropriate documentation to support the need for the accommodations. Federal law requires that instructors make reasonable adjustments to accommodate the needs of participants with disabilities to provide equal training access and avoid discrimination. In providing an adjustment, TEEX does not have to eliminate or lower essential requirements, make modifications that would result in a fundamental alteration of programs or activities or impose an undue burden on the institution.

Documents supporting your disability needs
- The documentation should provide information on the impact of the disability so that appropriate accommodations can be identified.
- Documentation may include assessments, reports, and/or letters from qualified evaluators, professionals, or institutions. Common sources of documentation are healthcare providers, psychologists, diagnosticians, and/or information from a previous school (e.g., accommodation agreements/letters, 504, IEP, or ARD documents).
- Note: Accommodations are not retroactive (i.e. a participant may not asked to retake their first quiz with extra time if they didn’t file for accommodations until the 2nd quiz).

Will I be provided the same accommodations for my licensing exam?
Licensing or certification entities typically need to review and approve testing accommodations separately from TEEX. Accommodations allowed by TEEX for a class or training may differ from those allowed by the licensing entity. You should contact the licensing entity directly for more information.
Grievances
TEEX is dedicated to fostering an educational and professional environment that supports the growth of every individual. In line with this commitment, TEEX has established protocols for addressing grievances within its community. It is incumbent upon each student to familiarize themselves with and adhere to TEEX’s Student Rules. In cases where a student feels they have faced discrimination in the classroom due to their disability, faculty may play a role in the grievance procedures.
Appeal Process
Eligibility for accommodations and the determination of reasonable accommodations are managed by Disability Resources through an interactive process. Should a student disagree with a decision regarding eligibility or a specific accommodation request, they are encouraged to follow the appropriate appeal procedure within the department.
Student/Instructor Disputes
If there is a disagreement between the student and the instructor regarding accommodation requests, they should attempt to resolve the matter collaboratively. If resolution proves elusive, Disability Resources personnel can facilitate discussions involving both parties. Should these discussions fail to yield a resolution, the matter will be handled according to TEEX’s policy and procedures.
Addressing Discrimination
Students who believe they have experienced discrimination based on disability have recourse through various procedures, Discrimination and Discrimination Appeals, of TEEX’s policies.
