Public Safety Wellness
Public safety wellness is at the C.O.R.E. of everything we do.

About the Public Safety Wellness Program
Law enforcement officers and firefighters are more likely to die by suicide than in the line of duty, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The TEEX Public Safety Wellness Program is working to change this by expanding access to counseling, critical incident response, and training for public safety professionals across Texas.
Originally launched through an earmark secured by Congressman Troy Nehls, the program continues to grow as a statewide system of support promoting wellness and saving lives.
What We Offer

Support That Saves: Building and Sustaining Peer Support
The Support That Saves training equips public safety professionals with practical skills to recognize distress, offer peer-level support, and promote resilience within their agencies.

Counseling Program
The Public Safety Wellness Counseling Program also provides no-cost, confidential counseling through in-person and virtual sessions designed to meet the unique challenges of those who serve. Licensed counselors and trained peers deploy statewide during disasters to deliver crisis intervention, stress management, and mental health first aid directly in the field.
