STATION — The American Council on Education (ACE) recently recommended college
credit for 56 TEEX courses, including 17 Water & Wastewater courses, which
were reviewed and recommended for ACE credit for the first time. ACE credit opens
doors for TEEX students, giving them access to academic credit that can be
applied toward associate’s and bachelor’s degree plans, as well as vocational
training programs.

The ACE recommendations
followed a review of the courses and a site visit to TEEX by a team of seven
educators from colleges and universities across the country, including the
University of Maryland, Oklahoma State University, University of Southern
Illinois and Blinn College. The team was led by the Director of ACE’s College
Credit Recommendation Service, from Washington, D.C.

“These
reviewers know quality when they see it, and that’s what we have,” said Tony
Casper, Director of TEEX Curriculum and eLearning. “The reviewers commented on
the thoughtfulness, completeness and quality of our curriculum and review
process.”

Nearly 400
universities and colleges recognize ACE credit recommendations. “ACE
recognition shows the quality of our training courses and makes our training more
attractive to potential students, especially those interested in pursuing
higher education or workforce education programs,” Casper said. In the coming
year, TEEX will submit applications and seek ACE credit recommendations for 50
additional courses.

The
curriculum review and revision process undertaken by TEEX a number of years ago
boosted the agency’s standing with ACE, Casper said. The ACE reviewers have
commented that TEEX has some of the best curriculum they have seen in a training
organization, he added.

All ACE-approved
courses are reviewed every three years by a team of college and university
faculty from across the country. View a
