Course Description

Intermediate Collision Investigation PhotoExperienced crash investigators may enhance their level of understanding of collision investigation through this advanced course. Participants will learn new formulas and skills to better evaluate and investigate accidents. Although it is ideal for officers who routinely investigate and specialize in major injury and fatality collision investigations, it is also appropriate for patrol officers who frequently investigate collisions to complete this course.

This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements Course #78016.

Prerequisites

Participants enrolling in this course must complete the following course prior to attendance:

If you are claiming a course equivalent from another training provider, you must upload the documents to your myTEEX Student Portal within 48 hours of registration. If you completed the course requirement with TEEX, a TEEX employee will verify that you completed the course and received a passing grade.

Course equivalents will only be accepted if the curriculum and hours match TEEX curriculum. To submit training for TEEX course equivalency review/consideration, please submit the following:

  1. Copy of the course syllabus
  2. Copy of the certificate of completion
  3. Details of the training event
    • Dates of training
    • Format of training (in person, online, webinar, other)

Please upload a copy of your prerequisite requirements within 48 hours of registration to your myTEEX Student Portal. The preferred document naming convention is “Last Name, First Name – Document.”

Enrollment Requirements

Applicants for this course must be at least 18 years of age.

Participants will be contacted via email to confirm approval and admittance into the course. You have 48 hours to submit payment. Failure to complete any step in the process will result in you being removed from the class.

Course Completion Requirements

Participant Must Provide

  • A photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.
  • Laptop or tablet
  • Scientific calculator (Recommended: TI-30Xa)
  • Measuring tape
  • Mechanical or wood pencil(s) with a lead measurement of .5mm
  • TEEX formula cards provided in prerequisite courses
  • TEEX traffic templates provided in prerequisite courses

Note: A phone is not considered a sufficient replacement for a laptop or tablet for this class.

Attendance Requirements

Class attendance is an essential part of the education process, and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. The course requires participants to attend a minimum of 100% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirement, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed.

In some cases, make-up work will not be available (due to equipment/facility needs and/or safety/teamwork components or activity setup/facilitation/requirements).

Participants in a TCOLE credit eligible course must complete the class in its entirety to receive a TEEX Certificate of Completion and be reported for TCOLE credit.
