Course Description

Electric Power Principles is part of Level 1 of the Apprenticeship Program designed to provide participants with the foundational knowledge and skills of utility work. Module 2 will include an overview of the composition of matter, electrical principles, electromagnetism, electric meters, circuit laws, and electrical systems.

Upon successful completion of this module, participants will be able to apply electric power principles to electrical utility line work.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Completion Requirements

Participants will be expected to come to class prepared each day supplied with the following items: notepad, pens, pencils, highlighters, and a scientific calculator. A backpack or other bag is recommended to secure and carry supplies.

In order to receive a Certificate of Completion, the participant must:

  • Attend 100% of the course
  • Sign the attendance roster each day of class
  • Complete and pass the final exam(s)/field activities/etc.
  • Complete the end-of-course evaluation

Attendance Requirements

Class attendance is an essential part of the education process, and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. The course requires participants to attend a minimum of 100% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirement, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed.

Suggested Audience

This course is designed for customer service representatives of electrical utilities, electrical apprentices, engineers, electrical product salespersons, insurance agents and investigators, training and safety personnel or any person who is trying to gain an understanding of electricity.
