Course Description
The Leadership Development Symposium is dedicated to advancing the art and practice of leadership. Designed for managers and leaders at entry level, the Symposium emphasizes growth, vision, and effectiveness as central to organized success. Sessions are presented by local nationally recognized leaders who challenge participants to think deeply, engage meaningfully, and apply new ideas with confidence. Each session is crafted to inspire leadership excellence, strengthen decision-making, and prepare attendees to lead with clarity, resilience, and purpose in the face of today and tomorrow’s leadership challenges.

Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Course Completion Requirements
Participants must provide information for all required fields, including their U.S. citizenship/permanent resident information, in addition to meeting all other attendance and course completion requirements. If this information is not provided, the participant will be considered incomplete and will not receive a certificate of completion.
Course Attire
For classroom activities, participants must wear full length pants, closed-toe shoes, and short sleeve/long sleeve shirts (no sleeveless shirts). It is preferred that participants wear duty uniform or business casual dress.
Certificates of Completion
- Completion certificates are issued through an online system following the symposium.
- The total hours on the certificate are based upon the number of sessions attended.
- Participants should ensure the accuracy of their email address at the time of registration.
Continuing Education Credits
Participants are able to apply the hours completed at the Symposium for continuing education credit through Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP), State Firefighters’ and Fire Marshals’ Association (SFFMA), and Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
Participants Must Provide
- a photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.
Attendance Requirements
Participant attendance is tracked by scanning into each session. Participants can receive a maximum of 16 credit hours for attending the Leadership Development Symposium.
