Course Description
This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements for Course #6016.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Course Completion Requirements
- The mandatory completion/duration period for this eCourse is 90 days from the registration date.
- Participants will have three attempts to pass the final examination.
- To complete this course you are required to have a computer with internet access.
Online Course Technical Requirements
To successfully complete this online course, you should have access to a computer with the following system requirements:
- Computer tower or laptop

- Broadband or high-speed internet connection

Attendance Requirements
To meet attendance requirements, participants must review each training module and complete all required course assignments, activities, quizzes, and/or end of course exam.
Upon successful completion, you will be able to:
- Describe basic roles and responsibilities of security officers in a variety of contexts.
- Recognize the rules and state laws that apply to security officers.
- Demonstrate effective and professional language for resolving conflict in the field.
- Recognize appropriate responses to incidents using the Use of Force Continuum.
- Determine situations in which an arrest is appropriate and legal for a security officer to effect.
- Relate relevant portions of the Penal Code concerning use of force to their operations as security officers.
- Identify essential elements for effective verbal and written communications.
- Describe roles taken on by security officers during an emergency or during hazardous incidents.

- Non-commissioned security officers in the State of Texas
- Any person wishing to pursue non-commissioned security officer certification
