Course Description
After completing this lesson, the student shall be able to discuss personal protective equipment, product control, and decontamination as they relate to hazardous materials incidents.

Course Completion Requirements
Participant Must Provide
A photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook opens in a new tab for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.
PPE must be NFPA-approved. See the Student Safety Manual to review PPE requirements for level 4.
Attendance Requirements
Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed

Upon successful completion, you will be able to:
- Describe respiratory protection used at hazardous material incidents.
- Describe types of protective clothing worn at hazardous materials incident.
- Describe personal protective equipment ensembles used during hazardous materials incidents.
- Explain PPE-related stresses.
- Describe procedures for safely using PPE.
- Identify procedures for inspecting, storage, testing, maintenance, and documentation of PPE.
- Describe methods of spill control.
- Describe methods of leak control.
- Differentiate between gross decontamination and emergency decontamination.
