There are no prerequisites for this course.
Course Completion Requirements
Participant Must Provide
- a photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.
- NOTE: Each student will need to bring to class their own copies of (1) the 2021 IPMC International Property Maintenance Code, (2) the 2021 IRC International Residential Code, and (3) the 2017 Legal Aspects of Code Administration.
Attendance Requirements
Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed
Upon successful completion, you will be able to:
- Employ legal aspects of the code administration.
- Use the processes outlined by the IPMC.
- Recognize the general requirements stated in the IPMC.
- Recognize light and ventilation requirements and occupancy limitations stated in the IPMC.
- Recognize the minimum criteria for plumbing facilities and fixture requirements stated in the IPMC.
- Recognize minimum performance and safety requirements for heating, electrical, and mechanical facilities stated in the IPMC.
- Recognize fire hazards in occupied buildings and minimum fire safety requirements stated in the IPMC.
- Use the International Residential Code (IRC).
Suggested Audience
This course is designed for Code Enforcement Officers and other industry personnel to include, building code officials, construction managers, building contractors, safety supervisors, and building inspectors who are preparing to take the IPMC exam with ICC.
