Course Description

image of orange motor graderThe Intermediate Motor Grader Operator course identifies & describes the common uses and types of motor graders. During the course, participants are presented with safety guidelines, pre-start inspection procedures, preventive maintenance requirements, startup & operation along with common work activities associated with motor graders. In addition to instruction on machine mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, safe work practices, and operational techniques, hands-on field exercises are conducted to include pre-operation inspections, blade adjustments, and scenarios developed to provide common operational techniques.

Prerequisites

TEEX Certification/Licensing Requirement

The participant must show evidence of completion of the TEEX Introduction to Motor Grader Operator (HEP205) course or an equivalent at least 14 business days prior to the start of class. This prerequisite may be accomplished by uploading a copy of the certificate of completion after registration. Once received and approved, the participant will be notified by email that they have met all prerequisites and have been added to the class roster.

Course Completion Requirements

Participant Must Provide

  • a photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.

Attendance Requirements

Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed

  • Operational techniques for flat blading, cutting a vee-ditch and back slope and moving materials out of a ditch
