Course Description

NFA logoThis 2-day course is designed to provide students with the essential tools and skills to operate safely in a wildland urban interface (WUI) incident. 

Course content covers: 

  • Interface incidents.
  • Fire behavior.
  • Safety and operational considerations.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Completion Requirements

Participants Must Provide

A photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook opens in a new tab for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.

You will need your FEMA SID # the first day of course. 

To obtain a SID 

  • Register athttps://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid
  • Select “Need a FEMA SID?” on the right side of the screen.
  • Follow the instructions to create your account.
  • You will receive an email with your SID. Save this number in a secure location.

Attendance Requirements

To meet NFA attendance requirements, participants must complete each training module and successfully complete all required course assignments, activities, quizzes, and pass the end of course exam to receive course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional requirements. 

ICS 100, 200 and Incident Command System (ICS)-100-level and ICS-200-level training. Preferred courses are available through NFA Online.

Upon successful completion, you will be able to:

  • Sizing up the incident.
  • Evaluating fire behavior.
  • Implementing strategies and tactics.
  • Establishing command structure.
  • Deploying resources.

Suggested Audience

All emergency response and public personnel.
