Overview
The Forensic and Investigative Sciences Level II Certificate is designed to give graduates a recognized credential that can translate into greater recognition in a future career in forensics. After completing the required certificate and courses offered through the Texas Forensic Science Academy graduates will have an intermediate understanding of forensics topics. All courses are available online making this a unique certificate!
Required Courses
This certificate has required prerequisites
Forensic and Investigative Sciences Level I certificate
Applicants must complete the Forensic and Investigative Sciences Level I certificate before starting the Forensic and Investigative Sciences Level II courses.
The following courses are required in order to receive a Forensic and Investigative Sciences Level II certificate.
Note: Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Investigation added as a required course effective May 15, 2024.
How to Apply for this Certificate
Once all TEEX courses have been completed, applicants should confirm they meet all certificate requirements using the Forensic and Investigative Sciences Level II Application and return it to the TEEX Law Enforcement & Protective Services division. Eligibility of each candidate will be reviewed and email notification of decision will be sent.
Important Notification
Effective September 1, 2024, the unit price fee for the standard certificate will increase from $37 to $50. This fee change will apply for all applications received on or after this date.
Note: Applicants should have a majority of the Forensic and Investigative Sciences Level I classes complete, if not the entire Forensic and Investigative Sciences Level I Certificate, before starting the Level II courses. All courses must be taken within seven (7) years of the date of application. Only one course from another training provider will be accepted if the curriculum and hours match TEEX curriculum. To submit training for TEEX course equivalency review/consideration, please submit the following:
- Copy of the course syllabus
- Copy of the certificate of completion
- Details of the training event
- Dates of training
- Format of training (in person, online, webinar, other)
TEEX’s approval decision is based on equivalency of course content, activities, and duration. TEEX will review your course equivalency request and make a determination on a case-by-case basis; additional information may be required from you.
