Emergency Services Training Institute names two new Associate Directors

COLLEGE STATION – Billy Parker and Gordon Lohmeyer have been tapped to fill the role of Associate Director for TEEX’s Emergency Services Training Institute (ESTI). They join the leadership team of Director of ESTI Robert Moore. ESTI operates TEEX’s Brayton Fire Training Field and the Annual Texas Fire Training Schools.

Parker has been with TEEX since 1982, when he began his career with the agency as a fire instructor, industrial rescue instructor, and Coordinator for the Recruit Fire Training Academy. During his tenure with TEEX, Parker has filled several key roles, most recently as Deputy Operations Chief for the Disaster Preparedness and Response Division (DPR). A founding member of Texas Task Force 1, Parker served in various leadership roles and responded to major disasters such as the World Trade Center attacks, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and numerous other state and federal deployments. He also played an instrumental role in the development of Disaster City® and the statewide water rescue program. Before joining TEEX, Parker served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT-Paramedic in Clyde, Texas, and then joined the College Station Fire Department as a Firefighter and Paramedic. He received the TEEX Distinguished Service Award and the Regents Fellow Service Award from The Texas A&M University System.

Lohmeyer joined TEEX in 2004 with 20 years of experience in response and emergency management , as well as environmental health and safety, in the oil & gas and petrochemical industry. He served in a variety of leadership positions, including Fire Chief and Emergency Response Coordinator for Texas Petrochemicals LP. During his tenure with TEEX, he served as Hazardous Materials Program Coordinator, and in 2007, he was promoted to Private Sector Program Director, where he oversaw all industrial training operations in fire, rescue, hazmat and international programs for 20,000 students annually. Lohmeyer is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), a Certified Hazmat Technician and Specialist, and holds a number of NFPA certifications. He is a graduate of Blinn College, Sam Houston State University and San Jacinto College. He received the TEEX Distinguished Service Award and is a graduate of the TEEX Leadership Development Program.
