Wiatt Physical Skills Training Complex construction underway

Construction has begun on the $2.2 million Wiatt Physical Skills Training Complex at the Texas A&M Riverside Campus in Bryan. The Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) training facility will bear the name of the late Robert “Bob” Wiatt, an FBI agent and former Texas A&M University Chief of Police.

The new TEEX Public Safety & Security (PS&S) training complex will not only include the existing circuit training exercise and running track but also an indoor multi-use area. The 10,500-square-foot building will include an area where defensive tactics and other aerobic training can be conducted, along with a weight training area, showers and locker rooms for students and staff, said PS&S Division Director Tom Shehan.

The facility will be located on the south side of the existing PS&S building at the corner of 5th Street and Avenue D on the Riverside Campus. The building was designed by PDG Architects, and the contractor is Rosenberger Construction of Houston. The project is expected to be completed by mid-summer.
