COLLEGE STATION – TEEX and Texas A&M University’s Center for Executive Development in the Mays Business School have teamed up to offer a new capstone program for fire service leaders. The Fire Service Chief Executive Officer (FSCEO) certificate program is designed to provide executive level professional development for company and chief officers within the fire service. It is geared toward those who have already completed NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I-IV and are looking for advanced training.

“It is a tremendous opportunity for officers in the fire service,” said Brandi Plunkett, Program Director for Leadership Development at TEEX’s Emergency Services Training Institute. “We are very proud to offer a program that is of exceptional quality, yet is accessible for volunteer and municipal fire officers in terms of time and expense. This new certificate program will provide fire service leaders an opportunity to gain a broader perspective of executive level issues as they interact with business professors, corporate leaders and fellow fire chiefs from around the state and nation.”

Topics covered will include the challenges of leadership, ethics, creativity and innovation, strategic management and planning, managing change and transition, media relations, and stress management.

The four-day program is presented by professors from the Mays Business School who deliver classes for the Executive MBA Program as well as corporate clients of the Center for Executive Development. Included in the cost of the program is the hotel, transportation to and from campus, first day breakfast, lunch, shirt, coffee mug, notebook, and a graduation banquet at Christopher’s World Grille.

The prerequisites for this program are either NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I, II, III, and IV or NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I, II and the Texas Fire Chiefs Academy. Those who meet the prerequisites and complete the program will receive a framed certificate and leadership coin during the graduation ceremony.

The inaugural class will be held June 4-8, 2012, at the Mays Business School — Center for Executive Development on the Texas A&M campus in College Station. For more information or to apply, visit www.teex.org/leadership.
