SAN ANTONIO —Texas A&M University-San Antonio (TAMU-SA) and the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) are two members of the Texas A&M University System teaming up to bring world-class professional training opportunities to South San Antonio. The Texas A&M-San Antonio Brooks City-Base Campus is hosting two programs this summer aimed at private industry and government agencies.

The first training opportunity is a “Safety Rodeo” running from July 23-26, 2012. As the Region VI OSHA Southwest Education Center, TEEX is a recognized leader in championing worker safety. During the event, several entry-level courses will be offered for the student to study and acquire basic safety and health knowledge for general industry and the construction industry, including one course with an emphasis on the oil and gas industry and one taught in Spanish.

The “Water Expo” will be held from July 31-Aug. 2, 2012, to provide training for water and wastewater operators and managers who work for municipalities and industry across Texas. The program offers five classes approved for TCEQ credit, with topics ranging from basic water works operations to wastewater treatment and water utilities management.
