Industrial Safety Training Council joins with TEEX to offer specialized training to petrochemical and refining industry workers

NEDERLAND— Petrochemical and refining industry workers in Texas will have easier access to safety and health training through a new agreement between the Industrial Safety Training Council (ISTC) and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX). TEEX operates an OSHA Training Institute Education Center located in Mesquite, TX, and provides OSHA courses as well as other training in OSHA’s Region VI states of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.

ISTC has been designated a TEEX Cooperative Learning Center (CLC), authorizing them to teach TEEX safety and health classes within the council’s service area. The CLC agreement means ISTC has been approved as a host site to deliver designated TEEX courses using its own qualified instructors and facilitators.

“The petrochemical industry is a big part of the economy and job growth of this region. This partnership will help meet the growing demand for the essential training that educates the workforce and keeps them safe and healthy on the job.” said Ron Peddy, Director of the OSHA Training Institute Education Center.

ISTC is approved to offer or host the entire environmental, safety and health catalog of courses, including those leading to the TEEX Certified Safety and Health Official™ (CSHO) in Construction and General Industry.
