COLLEGE STATION – Fifty-eight new firefighters graduated on June 26 from the 147th Recruit Fire Training Academy. The graduation ceremony at the H.D. Smith Complex at Brayton Fire Training Field marked the culmination of the 12-week academy.

The graduates are from the U.S. and Canada. The TEEX Recruit Fire Academy meets or exceeds the requirements in most states and countries for preparation and/or certification of municipal firefighters. Through its academy, TEEX has trained nearly 4,400 entry-level firefighters since 1971.

The academy prepares students for certification as a professional firefighter through classroom and hands-on field training applications. The new firefighters sat for the ProBoard Firefighter I and Firefighter II national exams. The program is also eligible for college credit through the Fire Science Technology degree program at Blinn College.
