TEEX Rescue Training Program gets a new home at Brayton Fire Training Field

COLLEGE STATION – A ribbon-cutting was held Oct. 8 for the new 12,000-square-foot Rescue Classroom Building at Brayton Fire Training Field. Nearly 100 guests attended the event and toured the $3.1 million facility, which includes several large classrooms as well as showers, equipment storage and staff offices for the Rescue Training Program at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).

Welcoming the guests were Chief Robert Moore, Director of the TEEX Emergency Services Training Institute, and TEEX Director and CEO Gary Sera. Guests included former Texas A&M University Dean and Vice Chancellor of Engineering G. Kemble Bennett, Texas A&M University System Vice Chancellor Phillip Ray, James Edge from Congressman Bill Flores’ office, as well as local elected officials and representatives from the first responder community.

The new Rescue Building (#137) is part of the Brayton Fire Field development and expansion plan, which includes relocating and consolidating the rescue campus to an area adjacent to Disaster City®, on land that was purchased in 2013. New roadways and infrastructure upgrades have already been completed on the 17.8 acre addition. The next phase will be relocating existing rescue training props to the new area.
