Leadership Symposium set to begin Jan. 11 in San Marcos

The annual Leadership Development Symposium, sponsored by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), is scheduled for Jan. 11-13, 2016, in San Marcos, Texas. Now in its 8th year, the event draws current and future leaders in the Texas fire service, law enforcement and Emergency Medical Services.

More than two dozen top-notch speakers will provide up-to-date information on leadership, management, safety, budgeting, crisis communication, generational differences, team-building and other topics relevant to fire and emergency services. The theme of this year’s conference is “Seizing Today, Forging Tomorrow.”

Keynote speakers include Scott Waddle, former U.S. Navy Commander of the USS Greeneville, along with Brigadier General Patrick Hamilton of the Army National Guard.

There is no registration fee for Texas resident emergency response personnel, and sessions are geared to meet continuing education requirements for Texas fire officers, law enforcement officers and EMS personnel. A registration fee is charged for out-of-state participants. The symposium is sponsored by TEEX Emergency Services Training Institute (ESTI) and funded, in part, by Texas general revenue. Last year, the conference drew a record 870 participants.
