CANYON, TX – A training summit featuring 13 low-cost and no-cost courses will be held July 11-15 at West Texas A&M University to provide area workers with access to professional development and CEU credits.

This unique training event will feature courses in safety & health, water & wastewater, code enforcement, environmental topics and disaster management — at a maximum fee of $50 — a discount of up to $700 off the standard tuition rate.

The training is provided by experienced instructors with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), a nationally recognized provider of extension training in safety & health, infrastructure and public works, emergency response and disaster management.

“Our goal is to make our training accessible to workers across our great state, especially to those whose training budgets may be limited,” said Ron Peddy, Director of the TEEX Infrastructure Training & Safety Institute. “We have held these training events for four years in various regions of the state, providing knowledge to industry professionals who might not have received it otherwise. We are happy to be partnering with West Texas A&M for this year’s event in the Texas Panhandle.”

Peddy said the training will apply to a range of industries, including code enforcement, water & wastewater, environmental health & safety, construction, and oil & gas exploration. Tours of the TEEX mobile water lab will also be available.

Up to 350 spaces are available in the classes, which will be offered on the campus of West Texas A&M, 2403 Russell Long Blvd in Canyon, TX 79015.
