TEEX, Blinn College partnering on workforce training

COLLEGE STATION – TEEX CEO Gary Sera made the following announcement at a press conference held today (12/13/16):

The Texas A&M Engineering
Extension Service, also known as TEEX, is delighted to be partnering with Blinn
College to continue to provide quality workforce development training to the
Brazos County.

Many know TEEX as a premiere
Fire Training facility. We also train in law enforcement, infrastructure
support, therapeutics manufacturing, occupational safety, cybersecurity and
homeland security.

Now, this partnership with
Blinn College will give us the opportunity to further expand our training locally
in the areas of telecomm line installation, welding and CNC tool operations.

Each year, TEEX attracts over
27,000 students to Brazos County for training in nearly 1,500 classes with
approximately 4,500 of those being residents of this county.

We currently offer over 110
different courses to 2,300 students at the RELLIS campus, and we look forward
to increasing our offerings through our partnership with Blinn.

I see this as a time of economic
growth in the Brazos County and am happy to see RELLIS campus growing at the
same time to help meet the areas’ expanding needs.

Our next steps are to work
with Blinn and the Brazos County industrial sector to identify those skills
most needed by our local workforce.”
