COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) is awarding full scholarships to 40 high school
students to attend the Cyber Innovation Camp this summer. Students who
will complete the 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade this year are eligible to
participate in the five-day program.
Designed to provide teens with an introduction to the
computing and cybersecurity industry, students will receive their own Raspberry
Pi computer to learn programming, cybersecurity, electronics and sensors,
engineering design, and more. The camp meets from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each
day, and lunch will be provided.
Two sessions of the day camp, with a maximum of 20
students each, will be held June 5-9 and Aug. 7-11 in College Station. This
opportunity is made possible through a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission’s
Governor’s Summer Merit Program to TEEX’s Cybersecurity Program in Knowledge
Engineering. Camp Coordinator is Diane Cornwell.
Children of TEEX employees who meet the requirements are
eligible to participate. Applications and teacher recommendations are due May
1, 2017.
