Angerer named Public Sector Program Director for Emergency Services Training Institute
COLLEGE
STATION – The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service has tapped Chris
Angerer as the new Public Sector Program Director for the Emergency Services
Training Institute (TEEX-ESTI). Angerer brings with him more than 30 years of
experience in the municipal fire and emergency response service.
As
the Public Sector Program Director, Angerer will oversee the TEEX-ESTI
municipal fire programs, including the Fire Recruit Academy, Extension,
Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, EMS, Leadership Development, and Annual
Schools.
In
his 26-year career with the Lubbock Fire Department, Angerer rose through the
ranks to become Deputy Chief of Operations, where he managed 17 fire stations
and 350 firefighters. Following his retirement from LFD in 2012, Angerer joined
the Texas A&M Forest Service (TFS), where he has spent the last four years
as the Chief Response Training Coordinator. In that role, he coordinated
training for the TFS Incident Response Department, and was the Emergency
Services Branch Director in the Texas Division of Emergency Management State
Operations Center. He has also served as the Fire Academy and Fire Technology
Coordinator at South Plains College as well as an instructor with the Wolfforth
Fire Academy.

a former municipal firefighter, I am honored to have the opportunity to work
for TEEX to help other emergency responders gain practical knowledge and skills
for their careers. I am also looking forward to the opportunity to learn from
the many people who attend TEEX training. I am still working on perfecting my
knowledge and skills as well,” said Angerer.
ESTI
Division Director Robert Moore said Angerer’s addition will help TEEX grow its
reach, especially in Texas. “I am
extremely happy to bring Chris Angerer into the TEEX/ESTI family. Through
Chris’s valuable experience with the Lubbock Fire Department and Texas A&M
Forest Service, Chris will bring new and innovative ideas to the ESTI Municipal
Program. Chris’s reputation across Texas with career and volunteer fire
departments will be a definite plus for our agency and help us move in

Angerer
graduated from Texas Tech University in 1994 with a degree in
Biology/Chemistry. He has also attended the National Fire Academy (NFA) Executive
Fire Officer course and is certified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection
(TCFP) as a Master Firefighter. He was named Lubbock Fire Department
Firefighter of the Year in 2001, the Texas Association of Fire Educators
Training Officer of the Year in 2005, and was given the Director’s Award for
Professional Support Staff with Texas A&M Forest Service in 2014. Angerer
is also a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the Texas
Association of Fire Educators.
