Companies pitch products in Response Innovation Showdown at TEEX

COLLEGE STATION – The TEEX Product Development Center (PDC) is hosting
the first Under Fire | Response Innovation Showdown on March 8-9 at the
Memorial Student Center at Texas A&M University.

The two-day event will
include workshops and speakers on the first day, a keynote by Dallas’ Deputy Chief
of Police Mike Coleman (retired) and 6-minute speed pitches from 20 companies
with innovative public safety technologies for first responders. The 20
companies, from 12 states, completed an application process and met strict
criteria to earn a spot in the competition.

“The focus of the event is on technologies that are targeted to
providing first responders with a way to complete their tasks faster, more
efficiently and/or safer,” said PDC Manager Caleb Holt.

Ten finalists will be selected on March 8 to advance to the
second day and compete for the top cash prizes. Those 10 companies will have 30
minutes to demonstrate their technologies between 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Disaster
City® and/or RELLIS Campus on March 9. A lunch address by Dr. Robin Murphy, Director
of the Humanitarian Robotics and AI Laboratory at Texas A&M, will be
followed by an awards ceremony at 2 p.m.

The public is invited to participate in the pitch night,
beginning at 5 p.m. on March 8, in the MSC Ballroom 2300. There is no charge to
participate in the pitch night.
