An online tool developed by TEEXs Knowledge Engineering Center will help Economic Development Districts (EDDs) to more easily manage, track, document and share information about community economic development projects.
TEEX’s Technology & Economic Development Division is conducting a Hurricane Ike impact study of eight Texas counties with the help of a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration. The 18-month project will involve collecting data on the economic impact of the 2008 hurricane in each of eight affected counties.
TEEX and the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) have received a $1.1 million grant to provide training on AS9100 quality standards and lean manufacturing techniques to 19 Texas companies that supply the aerospace industry.
Citizens who were affected by Hurricane Ike can now share their ideas, suggestions and lessons learned with decision-makers through a Web site developed by TEEX’s Knowledge Engineering Center (KEC) for the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health.

In addition, there are problems with quality, an increased inventory in the supply chain, currency risk and a need to be closer to their markets.
