Peace Officers play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of the public. The Central Texas Police Academy (CTPA) delivers a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) approved Basic Peace Officer Course (BPOC) leading to Texas Peace Officer licensing. Participants receive classroom training designed to prepare each individual for the state licensing examination and engage in hands-on training to better acquaint them to the rigors of police work. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) now mandates that entry-level drivers attend formal classroom training prior to attending behind-the-wheel (BTW) training and taking the Commercial Driver License (CDL) skills test. This class covers all FMCSA requirements to complete the BTW portion of the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT). This includes all range and road maneuvers. Show less

TEEX Fire Training Academy prepares you for success as an entry-level firefighter. This is a 12-week program consisting of classroom and hands-on field application training. The Lineworker Academy at Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) is designed to provide to participants a comprehensive training experience using the best work methods, equipment, tools, and standards. The Academy offers classroom and hands-on field training with a real-world approach delivered through high-quality curriculum, experienced instructors, and specialized equipment and facilities. Upon completion of the Academy, participants will be qualified in equipment operation and pole climbing. In addition, they will receive their Basic First Aid and CPR Certification, their OSHA 10-Hour ET&D Construction Card, and will be given the opportunity to enter the job market prepared with the knowledge, skills, and abilities prospective employers within the electric power industry require. Texas CDLIn addition, participants of this course will have the opportunity to pursue a Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL). To obtain this license, participants must apply through the Texas Department of Public Safety and meet the following requirements: Complete a CDL application. Meet the general requirements for eligibility (page iii of the Texas Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers Handbook). TEEX developed the first civilian UXO Technician I course in 1999 and remains the only program to have ever been certified by the Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board (DDESB). In 2012 the National Association of Ordnance Contractors (NAOC) recognized this course as meeting, and exceeding, all UXO Tech I training requirements established by DDESB Technical Paper 18, Minimum Qualifications for Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Technicians and Personnel. This course provides participants with comprehensive, hands-on training in the safe detection, location, identification, and disposal of unexploded ordnance using the techniques and emerging technologies of today’s UXO remediation industry. Graduates of the course meet U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) requirements necessary to work as a UXO Tech I on USACE UXO remediation job sites. Participants registered for the UXO Technician Level 1 Course are also encouraged to register for the online HAZWOPER Clean-Up Operations course. SPRAT Level 1, 2, and 3 Certification is designed to provide an overview of the skills required to successfully complete Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT) Level 1, 2, or 3 certification. This course consists of four days of hands-on technique practice followed by one day of instruction for evaluation and a practical exam. NOTE:  Only SPRAT Level 1 training is eligible.SPRAT Level 1, 2, and 3 Certification consists of the following three courses:SPRAT Level 1 CertificationSPRAT Level 2 Certification – Can be taken six months after Level 1 certification AND 500 hours accruedSPRAT Level 3 Certification – Can be taken six months after Level 2 certification AND 500 hours accruedUpon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to perform respective level 1, 2, or 3 SPRAT tasks.
