Course Description

The Annual Fire & Public Safety Academy in Edinburg Texas is held annually in February and March.  The school classes span four consecutive weekends and provide training to First Responders in the region. Course Completion Requirements

Course Attire

Typically there are no prerequisites although some specific course(s) may have requirements such as PPE. Consult the appropriate flyer at teex.org/extension

Participant Must Provide

  • a photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.

Attendance Requirements

This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements.

Due to the nature of hands-on training courses, a physical examination is recommended prior to attending this Area School. 

Upon successful completion, you will be able to:

  • NFA Direct Delivery Courses
  • Trench Rescue
  • Field Rotation – Fire Behavior, PPE, Safety, Ladders, Fire Streams, Ground Cover, Forcible Entry, Fire Extinguisher, SCBA, Hoses, Rescue Ops, RITA, 2-Story, LPG/Foam, Cottage
  • Vehicle Extrication
  • Safe Practices for Traffic Incident Responders
  • Taking Action Against Cancer in the Fire Service
  • Courage to Be Safe
  • Various FOOLS course deliveries
  • Rope Rescue Technician

All emergency and crisis response personnel.
