Course Description
**PLEASE NOTE** This course has been approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to fulfill 20 credit hours in the following operator license area(s):
– Wastewater Operator License
– Water Operator License
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Course Completion Requirements
Participant Must Provide
- a photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.
Attendance Requirements
Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 100% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed.
Recommended
Prior Training Courses or Knowledge
It is recommended, but not required, participants complete Surface Water Production I (WWW004) and Wastewater Treatment (WWW102) courses prior to registration.
Upon successful completion, you will be able to:
- Explain the importance of the various classes of microorganisms to the environment in which they live.
- Classify microorganisms into individual kingdoms.
- Examine the functions of a microscope.
- Demonstrate the proper preparation of microscope slides.
- Apply the process for identifying microorganisms.
- Demonstrate identifying the various types of algae.
- Categorize the types of protozoa being observed.
- Demonstrate identifying rotifers.
- Recognize the ecology of microscopic animals.
- Discuss the effect of fungi on the environment and wastewater treatment operations.
- Explain the importance of bacteria classification to wastewater treatment.
