Wisby promoted to Associate Director of Emergency Services Training Institute

COLLEGE STATION – Mike Wisby has been promoted to Associate Director for the Emergency Services Training Institute (ESTI) of the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).

Wisby joined TEEX in 1990, where he began his career as an extension instructor based in the Houston area. In 1994 he became coordinator of the municipal program and relocated to College Station. He continued to support several key TEEX programs, including: the formation of TX-TF1; design of Disaster City; and the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA WMD training program.

He later began managing the marine – oil spill program, which saw expansion in the Galveston area and upgrades for the LNG program, partnering with BP and the Department of Chemistry at Texas A&M University. Wisby also oversaw the ESTI Marketing Group, which provides exhibit, advertising, web, and related components to promote both division and agency programs and capabilities. Currently, he acts a liaison to the State Fire Training Directors, the National Fire Academy, and other state and federal programs.

Before joining TEEX, Wisby served as a member and Chief of the Spring Fire Department in Harris County, and also worked as an EMT for Cypress Creek EMS. He is a past president and former board member of the Harris County Firefighters Association.

Wisby is a certified Master Level Firefighter, Hazmat Technician / Specialist, Master Level Instructor III, and State Co-Chair for the NFA Region VI area. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and the TEEX Leadership Development Program.
