Record attendance this week at the TEEX Spring Fire Training School

COLLEGE STATION – The smoke that occasionally rises near Easterwood airport is more prevalent this week. The 24th Annual TEEX Spring Fire Training School (Spring School) has a record 387 students attending courses at the Brayton Fire Training Field. The previous record of 372 students was set in 2009.

The Spring School students include some from as far away as Canada, Saudi Arabia, and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. There are also more than 50 guest instructors who donate their time and expertise.
In addition to the Emergency Services Training Institute (ESTI) Spring School, regularly scheduled classes are being held bringing the total number of students at Brayton Fire Training Field well above 700.

“The Spring Annual School is the smallest of our major annual schools,” says ESTI Director Robert Moore. “But coupled with the private sector firefighters this week, it quickly becomes much larger. This is great for the school and the Bryan/College Station area due to the student’s support of the local economy.”

This year’s Spring School runs through March 9 and includes courses for emergency medical personnel, incident commanders, hazardous materials specialists, and various firefighting specializations.
