Registration for Basic Economic Development Course now open

Registration for the 2012 Spring Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC) is open and spaces are filling up rapidly. The BEDC Course will be held April 17-20 at the Hilton Bella Harbor Hotel in Rockwall. The course is produced by the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) in collaboration with the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC.)

The BEDC is designed for anyone interested in economic development — at the local, regional and state level. Prospective attendees should include local elected officials, government agency staff members, planners, utility and transportation personnel, business leaders, community leaders and volunteers, and chamber or economic development organization professionals and their staff.

The Texas BEDC is a course on the fundamental concepts, tools and skills needed to be successful in economic development in today’s political, economic and business environment. Participants will have an in-depth, interactive opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the keys to successful economic development. For those new to the profession, the Texas BEDC is the first step toward professional certification by the International Economic Development Council.

Registration is limited to 50 participants. Register now by going to the TEDC website — www.texasedc.org, Upcoming Events.
