  • Congressional, Legislative staff members visit TEEX

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) recently hosted a visit by Congressional and Legislative staff members. The staffers visited TEEX’s National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center (NERRTC), met with Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service Director Gary Sera and toured some of the agency’s emergency preparedness training facilities.

The visitors included Jonas Miller, Chief of Staff for Congressman John Carter; Emmanuel Guillory, Legislative Assistant for Congressman Joe Barton; Lela Pittenger, Central Texas Regional Director for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz; and Gretchen Essell, Committee Clerk for the Texas Senate Agriculture, Rural Affairs and Homeland Security Committee, chaired by State Sen. Craig Estes.

The visit was hosted by Rebecca Tate of NERRTC, Tiffiny Britton, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Government Relations with Texas A&M Engineering, and Dustin Bryant, Manager of Federal Relations for The Texas A&M University System.

Sera met with the group at the agency headquarters before they departed for a TX-TF1 briefing and tour. The group then toured the TEEX Emergency Operations Training Center and observed an Enhanced Incident Management/ Unified Command course, before going on a driving tour of Brayton Fire Training Field. They concluded their visit at Disaster City, where they observed the EDGE Innovation Network Winter Institute exercise.

TEEX employees assisting with the tour included Jim Yeager, Jason Moats, Steve Hightower, David Martin and Clint Arnett, among others.
