24 peace officers graduate from the Central Texas Police Academy

COLLEGE STATION – Twenty-four new peace officers graduated from the Central Texas Police Academy in December, after 18 weeks of comprehensive training. Brig. Gen. Joe E. Ramirez Jr., Commandant of the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets, delivered the keynote address at the graduation ceremony, which was held at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center.

Many of the new officers have already begun their duties with area police departments in Bryan, College Station, Texas A&M University and Sam Houston State University, as well as the Navasota Fire Marshal’s Office, Brazos County Constable, Brazos County Sheriff’s Office and Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

TEEX Director Gary Sera welcomed the class and their guests to the graduation ceremony, and Training Director Cullen Grissom also spoke to the graduates. Class #153 awards were presented by Public Safety & Security Director Tom Shehan, and Academy Training Manager Lee Santo awarded the cadets their certificates.

Other members of the academy staff are Larry Frye, Jan Meyer-Brickley and Beatrice Malinovsky. Guest instructors at the academy were also recognized at the graduation.

Recognized as the oldest statewide law enforcement extension training agency in Texas, the Central Texas Police Academy at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) has been preparing future officers for successful careers in law enforcement since the 1940s. Graduates have a long-standing record of a high passing rate on the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) licensing examination and are recruited by law enforcement agencies throughout the state.
