‘First-of-its-kind’ Helicopter Search and Rescue Workshop descends on College Station

COLLEGE STATION – When speed is a necessity or where terrain is inaccessible, Helicopter Search & Rescue is the tool for the job.

Texas Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) will be hosting the National Helicopter Search & Rescue Workshop at the Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station, TX, on April 1-2, 2014.

Over 70 personnel from more than 30 organizations from across the nation will participate in this unique event and share their knowledge and experience.

Where: Brayton Fire Training Field Pump Ops Area
What: Static equipment displays including 2 Texas Air National Guard helicopters. Interviews available. Helicopters should depart at approximately 3 pm (good video opportunity).

Who is TX-TF1?
TX-TF1 is sponsored by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) and has deployed over 90 times since 1997, including the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy, Sept. 11th World Trade Center attack, and Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Ike. TX-TF1 can be activated by the Texas Division of Emergency Management or as one of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) 28 sanctioned urban search and rescue teams.
