30 graduate from capstone Fire Service CEO program at Mays Business School

COLLEGE STATION – Thirty fire service leaders from five states have completed the capstone Fire Service Chief Executive Officer (FSCEO) program. A joint initiative between TEEX and the Texas A&M University Mays Business School, the weeklong certificate program was held May 19-23 at the Center for Executive Development on the Texas A&M campus.

Sessions were led by professors in the Mays Business School and covered topics such as the challenges of leadership, finance for executives, ethics, and strategic management and planning. Attendees also learned about creativity and innovation, managing change and transition, media relations and stress management.

“There were many things that helped this professional development program stand out in my mind,” said Fire Chief Shawn Bayouth of Ames, IA. “The instructors’ extensive knowledge and enthusiasm made the entire course a pleasure to attend. By utilizing professors from the Texas A&M Mays Business School’s MBA program as instructors from their respective fields, the quality of material that was imparted far surpassed the level of instruction typically received at fire-related conferences and trainings. All of the lectures were always well organized and full of extremely useful information that I will take back and immediately be able to apply to my current position as Fire Chief….I would highly recommend this program.”
