TEEX launches Learning Management System for online therapeutics manufacturing courses

COLLEGE STATION – The National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM) at Texas A&M University has launched its first online biopharmaceutical course on a Learning Management System developed by the TEEX Knowledge Engineering Center.

The online course, Overview of Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM 101), is a two-hour course that introduces potential students to the field of biopharmaceutical manufacturing, and is currently available at no charge.

NCTM called on TEEX in 2013 to develop a simple and integrated Learning Management System (LMS) to host their online courses. The TEEX Knowledge Engineering Center was able to provide the latest release of their simple and easy-to-use proprietary FreedomLearn™ Essentials — Learning Management System (LMS). The LMS was implemented to match the current style and design of NCTM’s website to provide a seamless experience and 24/7 access for students.

A complete set of administrative tools and friendly user interface also makes it easier for those managing the course content or running reports, said John Romero, Program Director of the Knowledge Engineering Center.

“Because of its flexibility and functionality, our LMS allows us to monitor, manage, and deliver a variety of content with little difficulty,” said NCTM Assistant Director Jenny Ligon. “John Romero and his development team have done an excellent job in delivering an LMS that is flexible, functional, and visually identical to our NCTM website, which allows us to create a consistent brand and easily direct participants between our website and LMS.”

“NCTM was looking for an easy-to-use Learning Management System for both the students who come to the site and the administrators of the system,” Romero added. “FreedomLearn Essentials was exactly what they were looking for — a simple and powerful LMS. I’m pleased that we could help them by hosting their online course catalog.”
