Riggins appointed Associate Agency Director and Chief Information Officer

COLLEGE STATION – Vince Riggins has been tapped to serve as Associate Agency Director and Chief Information Officer of the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).

His appointment was approved by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents during its September meeting. Riggins previously served as IT Security and Chief Technology Officer.

In his new role, he will manage long-range information technology strategic planning, IT governance and information security standards and guidelines encompassing data and intellectual security. He will oversee the development and deployment of the agency’s information technology initiatives and manage practices, programs and procedures to protect the agency’s information systems assets.


“His proven record of service, rational decisions and the ability to handle difficult problems will make him an outstanding Associate Agency Director,” said TEEX Director Gary Sera. “In this position, he will represent our interests and make contributions that will make a difference across the A&M System.”


Riggins holds a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University. He has been a computer programmer since 1987 and joined TEEX in 1994 while he was a student. His early full-time roles at TEEX encompassed computer graphic design, instructional materials specialist, instructor, and project manager for computer-based instruction and web-based course delivery. After a break in service, he returned in 2000 as Lead Software Application Developer for the TEEX Knowledge Engineering Center. He became IT Security and CTO in 2010.
