TEEX to provide technical assistance in China for Xinxing Heavy Industries
COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) has signed a five-year agreement with Xinxing Heavy Industries Group to provide technical assistance for eight training centers to be constructed across China.
A formal signing ceremony was held in August in Beijing, where the official Memorandum of Understanding was signed by TEEX CEO Gary Sera (third from right), Director of the Emergency Services Training Institute Robert Moore (far right), Xinxing Heavy Industries Group Chairman Chunsheng Chen (third from left) and Vice President Xiahao Zhang (far left). Also attending the ceremony was Brian Freeman, Director of International Training at TEEX.
The TEEX delegation also visited several locations where the training centers will be built and met with government officials, state emergency management officials, and fire and police officials. Freeman said discussions focused on the first three selected locations: Zhuhai, Chengdu and Beijing.
The Technical Assistance program for the “Safety Valley” project will begin in 2017, with a minimum of two site visits and task orders per year being performed by TEEX under the contract, Freeman added.
Discussions between TEEX and Xinxing began in early 2015 when company officials selected TEEX after visiting several emergency response training providers in a number of countries.
