Leadership Development Symposium set to begin Jan. 9 in Frisco

The annual TEEX Leadership Development Symposium is scheduled for Jan. 9-11, 2017, in Frisco, Texas. The event, now in its 9th year, is expected to draw more than 800 current and future leaders in the Texas fire service, law enforcement and Emergency Medical Services.

More than two dozen top-notch speakers will provide up-to-date information on leadership, safety, financial decision-making, health and nutrition, law and policy, generational differences in the workplace and other topics relevant to fire and emergency services. The theme of this year’s conference is “Take a Stand.”

Keynote speakers include Sgt. Dakota Meyer, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, author and Medal of Honor recipient, as well as former Deputy Administrator of FEMA Richard Serino, now a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Harvard University. Other keynote speakers include Brig. Gen. Patrick Hamilton of the Army National Guard and Dr. Rick Rigsby, CEO of Rick Rigsby Communications.

There is no registration fee for Texas resident first responders and sessions are geared to meet continuing education requirements for Texas fire officers, law enforcement officers and EMS personnel. A registration fee is charged for out-of-state participants. The symposium is sponsored by TEEX Emergency Services Training Institute (ESTI) and funded, in part, by Texas general revenue.
