COLLEGE STATION – Firefighters from across the country have made their way to Bryan College Station to attend the annual Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) Fire Schools held at Brayton Fire Training Field.

Since its first annual school in 1930, TEEX has been providing firefighters with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through realistic, live-fire and rescue scenarios. What used to be only a two-day program has expanded into three weeks, and is now split into specific training sessions based on emphasis areas such as Municipal, Industrial, and a training school for Spanish-speaking firefighters.
The training sessions over the month of July brings approximately 2,600 firefighters and 800 guest instructors to the community from across the state and the world, in addition to 388 exhibitors at the vendor shows. This influx in population equates to an overall economic impact of $1.4 million in direct spending at hotels, restaurants, gas stations, and local businesses.

“Experience Bryan College Station is excited to welcome the TEEX Fire Schools to our community,” said Kindra Fry, President and CEO of Experience Bryan College Station. “For years they have been making a huge economic impact on our community and we love to have them here experiencing all we have to see and do – we look forward to being a part of their continued growth and success and welcoming each class year after year.”

The Municipal Fire School Training will commence on July 21 — July 26.
