Texas Task Force 1 continues search and rescue operations

Members of Texas Task Force 1 continue coordinating and operating search and rescue operations with local officials in Galveston and Orange County and other areas in Southeast Texas.

As of 8 a.m. on Monday, September 15, search and rescue numbers are as follows:

Rescues:

  • Air: 474
  • Ground/Water: 2,249

Total Rescues: 2,723

Assists without evacuation: 1,651

Total search and rescue assists and rescues: 4,374

Search and rescue personnel have assessed 28,462 structures and homes and have conducted 600 air surveillance missions.

In addition to Texas Task Force 1, the following agencies and FEMA search and rescue teams are involved in search and rescue missions: Texas Forest Service, Texas Military Forces, General Land Office, Department of Public Safety, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, National Parks Service, Georgia Forestry Commission, Texas Task Force 2, Colorado Task Force 1, Arizona Task Force 1, Tennessee Task Force 1, California Task Force 1, California Task Force 4, California Task Force 5, Indiana Task Force 1, Nevada Task Force 1, Virginia Task Force 2 and eight California swift water rescue squads.
