Campus law enforcement association calls on TEEX for course development

The International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, Inc. (IACLEA) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with TEEX’s Emergency Services Training Institute (ESTI) to develop and support a new command-level critical incident management course under IACLEA’s federal homeland security grant funding.

“IACLEA selected TEEX to revise our course because it possesses the knowledge, experience and resources to develop and support courses that meet the certification standards of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency (DHS/FEMA),” said IACLEA President Lisa A. Sprague, who is Associate Director of the Department of Public Safety at Florida State University.

TEEX will work with IACLEA to revise and update its existing incident command course to comply with DHS/FEMA training requirements and standards at the ICS-200 level. TEEX, a founding member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC), has successfully developed and delivered 17 courses for DHS/FEMA under its domestic preparedness training grant.

“DHS/FEMA recommended TEEX to IACLEA for this program, which speaks highly of TEEX’s reputation,” said Steven Hightower, Director for ESTI Incident Management Training Programs. “We see this as an opportunity to use the experience and skills that we’ve gained through 10-plus years of developing and fielding courses for DHS/FEMA for this new client.”

The new, 24-hour course will introduce campus and community stakeholders to all-hazards, critical incident prevention, preparedness, response and recovery roles and responsibilities as they affect higher education institutions. The course will culminate in a scenario-based exercise in which apply these concepts in a simulated incident command post and/or multi-agency coordination center. Completion of the DHS/FEMA certification process is expected to take about a year.
