TEEX Industrial Fire School begins

Exactly 466 firefighters from refineries and other industries from across the country have begun a week of training at Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station. The 47th annual Industrial Fire School will last through Friday.

On Wednesday, instructors, firefighters and Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) staff will pause for a ceremony at the Guest Instructors’ Memorial Wall, which honors the late guest instructors who have taught during the Spanish, Industrial and Municipal Fire Schools throughout the years.

Next week, TEEX will host the 80th annual Municipal Fire School, which caters to city and volunteer firefighters. On July 19, at Reed Arena, TEEX will host a massive fire vendor show to kick off the week.

Also, on July 22, TEEX will host a public burn in conjunction with Municipal School. Everyone is invited. Gates open 7 p.m. and a children’s fire-awareness class begins at 7:30 p.m. Immediately following the awareness class, TEEX instructors will explain and demonstrate techniques used to extinguish fires on selected training props.
