Firefighting demonstration set for July 22

The public is invited to a firefighting demonstration on July 22, sponsored by the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) in conjunction with its 80th Annual Municipal Fire Training School at the Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station.

Gates open at 7 p.m. and a children’s fire-awareness class begins at 7:30 p.m. Immediately following the awareness class, TEEX instructors will explain and demonstrate techniques used to extinguish fires on selected, full-scale, live-fire training props.

The 80th Annual Municipal Fire Training School, held July 19-24, is TEEX’s third summer fire training school, and the largest school of its kind in the world. More than 2,500 firefighters and guest instructors are expected to participate. The school is hosted by TEEX in conjunction with the State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas.
